Alder Tree Ltd hand-make a range of award-winning ices on their fruit farm in Suffolk, to a traditional family recipe.  Their products are sold in 125ml, 500ml, 4 litre and 4.7 litre containers across the UK using 3 delivery companies and 4 wholesalers. The premises comprise a kitchen, packing room, freezer and shared office space.  The business employees 2 full time and 2 part-time staff and is owned jointly by the directors Nick, Joan & Stephany Hardingham.

 

Alder Tree Ltd are fully committed to continually improving their corporate social responsibility in terms of their environmental, social and financial impacts.  The ultimate aim of the business is to be a leading example of socially responsible and sustainable business.

 

Alder Tree has already worked to reduce, re-use and recycle their waste, improve the sustainability of their packaging, uses electricity from a green energy tariff and carbon balances their onsite activities with the World Land Trust.

For the financial year 2014/2015  Alder Tree has the following targets:

 

  1. To decrease electricity consumption relative to turnover by a minimum of 5% year on year.

 

  1. To communicate their CSR policy & ethos to stakeholders

 

  1. To train staff to improve their understanding of sustainability & reduce their carbon consumption

 

  1. To minimise waste, and maximise re-use and recycling

This Policy has been approved by senior management, and will be reviewed on an annual basis.
